DFDM, working alongside the then client, Avon Capital Estates, and a team of Bristol's leading professionals, received full detailed planning consent (May 2024) via delegated authority, for proposals which both Design West and University of Bristol described as an 'exemplar design'.

The planning process included detailed discussions with the Environment Agency to design the first section of the Bristol and Avon Flood Strategy installation, which is now being rolled out across many other sites in the city.

The development was one of the first High Risk Buildings applications under the Building Safety Act Gateway 2 process across the country and was, at the time, approved in the fastest time frame. 

Construction started on site in summer 2025, with an enabling contract including demolition and remediation of contaminated land.  Following the sale of the development to Australian Super Annuation Fund, the main contract was let to Bowmer + Kirkland, with completion due in 2028.
