Following a successful planning application in the summer of 2021, permission was granted to fully redevelop the site for residential, supported housing and subsequently, a Sainsbury’s Local. The scheme was designed to maximise green open space and create a vibrant mix of community uses.
The residential elements were delivered by Vistry and completed in 2026. Deeley Freed is currently managing the construction and delivery of the retail unit on behalf of Sainsbury’s, also due to complete in 2026.
There’s an ancient Roman road underneath this site, and the surrounding landscape was untouched and significantly overgrown. When our teams set about clearing vegetation at the eastern end of the site, they discovered two cars and a digger hidden in the undergrowth!
